Welcome to Micro Machines
Micro Machines is an iconic American micro-scale toy vehicle brand that has earned a legendary place in global toy history. Renowned for its ultra-small scale, exquisite details, and imaginative play experiences, Micro Machines has captured the hearts of collectors and children alike for generations.
Our Origins
Born in 1987, Micro Machines was originally launched by Lewis Galoob Toys, Inc., a pioneering American toy company that was later acquired by Hasbro. The “Micro” in our name represents our signature feature: extraordinarily small scale ratios (typically 1:150–1:200), making our vehicles even smaller than traditional toy cars like Hot Wheels and Matchbox.
What Makes Us Special
Miniature Perfection: Our vehicles are typically just a few centimeters long, yet packed with intricate details that bring each model to life.
Diverse Collection: While we started with an extensive range of vehicle models—including cars, trucks, and motorcycles—our lineup has expanded to include airplanes, trains, boats, and countless other modes of transportation.
Interactive Play: Beyond individual vehicles, we’ve created rich, immersive playsets and combination toys. Our legendary Super Van City playset could unfold into an entire miniature world, offering endless possibilities for creative play.
Cultural Impact
During the 1980s and 1990s, Micro Machines became a household name, partly thanks to our unforgettable television commercials featuring fast-talking spokesman John Moschitta Jr. and our iconic tagline: “If it doesn’t say Micro Machines, it’s not the real thing!”
We’ve also made our mark in popular culture, including a memorable appearance as a trap device in the beloved film Home Alone, cementing our place in entertainment history.
Our Journey
The Golden Era (1980s–1990s): At our peak, we became one of America’s best-selling micro toy vehicle lines, at times even outselling Hot Wheels and Matchbox.
Evolution (2000s onward): As interests shifted, our brand gradually stepped back from the mainstream toy market.
Revival: In recent years, Hasbro has collaborated with partners to relaunch the brand with special editions in 2015, 2020, and beyond, attracting both nostalgic collectors and new generations of fans.
Our Legacy
Micro Machines represents more than just toy vehicles—we embody the art of miniaturization and the power of imagination. We’ve inspired countless toy collectors and design enthusiasts, transforming small, meticulously crafted model cars into cultural icons.
Today, we continue to celebrate the creativity, craftsmanship, and joy that have defined Micro Machines for nearly four decades. Whether you’re a longtime collector or discovering us for the first time, we invite you to experience the magic of play at a micro scale.
